Roxy Owan

What is your full name?

Roxy Owan.

What is your first name?

Roxy.

Where were you born?

Chiang Rai, Thailand.

Where do you currently reside and work?

Bangkok, Thailand.

What is your educational background?

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Media & Industries, LASALLE College Of The Arts.

What are other details of experiences, work or otherwise, that have led you to your current work?

My journey has been shaped by moving between Myanmar and Thailand, navigating the intersections of fashion and art along the way. I began exploring photography in college, learning to merge storytelling with visual identity while developing my own style and voice. Growing up with a deeply religious mother instilled in me a sensitivity to spiritualism, and the unseen elements that often find their way into my work. Living across cultures has also influenced how I approach my work, drawing me into narratives that explore emotional depth and the connections between humans and their worlds.

How would you describe your practice/business?

I work at the intersection of fashion and photography. My practice focuses on creating visual narratives that feel intimate and reflective, often drawing inspiration from personal experiences, observation of human behaviors, or fleeting moments that often go unnoticed. I see each of my projects as a transformative journey, allowing me to reflect and engage with my themes in a meditative manner.

What are the highlight projects in your career so far?

A solo exhibition Petal of Being at Dark Lab Bangkok in 2024 and a group exhibition If Only It Is Seen, Thus, From Afar at Bodhisattava Gallery in  2025.

What are you currently working on?

I am still developing the next stage of my ongoing photo series, Petal of Being. This project is a transformative journey, serving as a personal process of reflection and healing, and a way to mark the different phases of my own growth.

My friends and I, working across similar and complementary creative fields, founded Vessel Collective in 2024 It is a collective where we explore ideas and share practices. We plan to create new projects and collaborations in the coming years.
