What is your full name?
Bovin Ilyas.
What is your first name?
Bovin.
Where were you born?
Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Where do you currently reside and work?
Jakarta & Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
What is your educational background?
I am currently an undergraduate student in Photography at Indonesia Institute of the Arts (ISI).
What are other details of experiences, work or otherwise, that have led you to your current work?
I have had an interest in fashion and art since a young age, which I continue to explore through my visual work. I study both fields and try to apply that understanding to my approach in photography. My early experience in fashion, including running a boutique and working with textiles like batik, shaped the way I see material, form and identity. Over time, I shifted my focus toward photography, developing my approach through experimentation with lighting, composition and still life.
How would you describe your practice/business?
I am a fashion photographer with an interest in developing visuals that lean toward a more artistic and considered approach. My work often explores mood, form, and texture through both model-based shoots and still life.
I collaborate with fashion brands in Indonesia on a freelance basis, translating their ideas into imagery while maintaining a consistent visual sensitivity. I tend to approach each project with a balance between technical control and a more intuitive way of seeing.
What are the highlight projects in your career so far?
I worked on editorial campaign photoshoot for AESTHETIC PLEASURE, featuring Lutesha and Kamila Andini. In this shoot, I explored a more expressive and character-driven visual approach. I also worked on a still life campaign for THA Official in collaboration with Tanah Le Saé, focusing on form, texture and composition to translate the brand’s identity into a more refined visual language.
What are you currently working on?
I am working on an independent project under STOICISM STUDIO. This involvesdeveloping an editorial initiative that serves as a collaborative platform for creatives in fashion and the arts. The project brings together stylists, makeup artists, and other creative practitioners to collectively explore and express their ideas. It is conceived as a space where individual perspectives can converge into work that is both passionate and idealistic.Through this project, I aim to foster a more open and thoughtful creative environment, resulting in imagery that is not only visually compelling but also driven by shared artistic intent.
