Try Sutrisno

What is your full name?
Try Sutrisno.

What is your first name?
Shino.

Where were you born?
Jakarta, Indonesia.

Where do you currently reside and work?
Jakarta, Indonesia.

What is your educational background?
I graduated with a BA in Fashion Journalism from the Academy of Art University.

What are other details of experiences, work or otherwise, that have led you to your current work?
I began my career as an assistant at Men’s Folio Indonesia shortly after finishing my studies. In my free time, I reached out to photographers who were also starting out in the industry and asked to collaborate on test shoots. We shared our work on Instagram, which gradually led to freelance opportunities and helped me build a presence in the fashion scene.

How would you describe your practice/business?
I work with designers and brands closely to help them tell their stories through styling. To me, styling is about capturing a brand’s essence and communicating it through every look.

Collaboration is at the very heart of my practice. I believe the best results come from working closely with a team of creatives who are each excellent in their craft. I spend a lot of time in conversation with creative directors, photographers, make-up artists, hair stylists, producers, and my assistant, to explore how to bring the brand’s vision to life. It is through these collaborative efforts that we create something authentic to a brand’s identity.

What are the highlight projects in your career so far?
Producing PEARS magazine stands out as a top experience. It is a platform where I continuously learn from everyone involved, and each issue brings a new set of creative challenges.

Working on the PEDRO fashion show was another milestone because it was my first time collaborating with an international brand. The working style and culture were different, and it taught me about clearly communicating my ideas and needs across teams.

Two other highlights from last year were especially personal. The first was styling for SEAN SHEILA debut menswear show. I have worked with Sean and Sheila for many years, but that particular show felt like our visions truly collided in the best way. The second was presenting TOTON 2025 collection alongside my PEARS team during Jakarta Fashion Week. I led the production of a small exhibition, and we pulled it together in just two weeks! It was an intense period, filled with creative decisions, logistical problem-solving, and emotional navigation.

What are you currently working on?
The third edition of PEARS, which I am very excited about! It has been postponed for a few years due to numerous new challenges, but this edition has taught me to let go of certain ideas and concerns that could lead me to endless overthinking.

Looking ahead, I am excited to continue growing both as a stylist and a collaborator. I aspire to work with designers, brands, and creatives who bring a wealth of experience, both locally and globally, and who also value my unique creative perspective.
